Morning habits that
can be done in 5 minutes
Wake up at 4am every
morning, meditate and run. After that she reads the novel and eats two
grapefruits. Doesn't she feel "envious" every time she reads
such an article?
You don't have to spend three hours leisurely in your morning
routine to be productive or happy.
In fact, many good morning habits take less than five minutes.
Some of the habits I'm about to introduce were featured in
a thread titled
Start your day with a
refreshing feeling by referring to the simple routine below. You can
overcome any challenges.
1. Write down three things to
thank
"Think of what you already have in your life. Focus on
something simpler and more basic than material things like cars and
computers."
For example, you may be grateful to your family, friends, and
the education you received.
This method is similar to the "three good things"
exercise recommended by Martin Seligman, one of the founders of Positive
Psychology and a professor of psychology at the University of Pennsylvania.
Seligman and his colleagues recommend writing down the three
positive advances that took place each night, including an explanation of why
they were. You can do this as an exercise that is conscious of being
grateful for three things every morning.
2. Think about what you can do to
make today a good day
"If this happens, write in one sentence what you think
today will be a positive, productive and unique day."
She says it doesn't matter if it's as simple as going to bed
before the date changes or spending an hour doing what you love.
Once you know what makes you happy and feels fulfilled, act to
make it happen.
3. Do meditation
Meditation has been scientifically proven to have countless
health benefits such as reducing stress and negative emotions, improving
memory, and boosting immunity.
But meditation does not have to sit for hours.
"For five minutes, just disconnecting your mind's thoughts
can make a big difference in the day."
If you don't know how to meditate, you can refer to the free
guide provided by the UCLA Mindful Awareness Research Center. Some can be
done in 5 minutes and some are shorter.
4. Exercise
Exercising for 5 minutes immediately after waking up. His
favorite is Planck. It's like push-ups.
Studies show that exercising before breakfast helps you lose
weight and increase your energy. However, in this study, exercise was
carried out for about an hour or until the participants consumed 400 kcal.
No matter how long you exercise, your muscles will be stiff
right after you sleep, so don't forget to warm up.
5. Prepare the bed
The Power of Habit, journalist Charles Duhigg
states that arranging a bed can help increase your daily productivity. Because
it's a "keystone habit", and doing so helps to establish other good
habits in a chain reaction.
6. Prioritize
Making a list of what you want to achieve that
day. That way, you'll have a clear priority in your work.
Psychologist Travis Bradberry says such elaborate planning
greatly increases the chances of achieving a goal. He personally likes to
set goals for the day after doing mindfulness meditation.
7. Envision the day in your heart
"visualization routine."
"Imagine short-term and long-term goals and assert that you
have the ability to achieve them."
In Duhigg's second book, Smarter Faster Better, he suggests a
similar technique. "Tell yourself what the day will be like."
In his book, Duhigg describes the findings of MIT (Massachusetts Institute of Technology) researchers who investigated the most productive people at headhunting companies.
“They tell their
colleagues and themselves how they spend their day unusually. For example, ask
their colleagues to help them imagine what the next meeting or conversation
will look like. As a result, they are ready when such an event occurs. "
Telling yourself what kind of day you want to
have during your commute and making this a habit.
8. Keep a "5-minute
diary"
Keeping a "five-minute diary"
with inspirational quotes and thought-provoking questions.
" Assuming you do that, you will feel more good and cheerful. In
this way, your day will be better."
The author, investor, and own podcaster, Tim Ferriss, says he
keeps a five-minute diary every morning.
9. Drink warm water squeezed with
lemon
Drinks warm water squeezed with fresh lemons
every morning.
According to the Cleveland Clinic, lemon water has many
benefits, including helping digestion and taking vitamin C, which protects
cells from damage.
10. Don't check your smartphone
This alone shouldn't be a routine. you shouldn't check your phone for five minutes after waking up.
"Before you decide on your schedule or priorities for the
day, you start working for someone else."
"If you're starting your morning with an email check, you
can't get back on track. You'll be able to deal with such requests,
distractions, unexpected problems, reminders, etc. There is none."
He recommends not checking your phone for an hour.
"There aren't many things you can't wait for 59
minutes."
